Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some frequently asked questions from general enquirers we receive.
01 Can I visit your factory?
Absolutely, if fact, we would highly recommend it and look forward to your visit. Whether you're an entrepreneur, an SME or large corporate, we like to build strong lasting relationships with our clients. This helps us communicate effectively with our clients, understand their goals, passions and requirements. It also helps resolve any issues which might arise during the development, manufacturing and assembly processes. We welcome you to visit us at your convenience.
02 I have an idea for a new product, where do I start?
Before discussing your idea with anyone, we would advise that you sign a Non-disclosure agreement (NDA), prior to disclosing your idea to us. You can download a copy of our NDA here. Developing a new product and bringing it to market can be very exciting and rewarding but also very complex and demanding. We highly recommend that you discuss the development process with one of our Product Development Managers (UK: +44 791-952-8757, EU:+31 639-020-189) to discuss your requirements in more detail.
03 We have sketches of a design idea, can you create a CAD model from this?
This would depend on a whole host of different variables and questions about the idea but usually, it depends on how complex the idea is. Designing a new concept is one of the most exciting stages of the products development process, where you see your idea finally become a visual 3D model for the first time. It's also a time when additions, new discoveries, edits and revisions to the designs are made. We usually recommend the best approach once we have reviewed the concept designs with you.
04 We are looking to reduce costs on component parts we're manufacturing, can you help?
Absolutely, we would be happy to provide detailed quotes including shipping costs. Please feel free to contact one of our account managers to discuss your requirements in more detail.
05 Can you help in sourcing products or parts?
Yes, with our local and regional knowledge of Chinese manufacturers, whether in Shenzhen, Shanghai or Hong Kong, we can help you with your sourcing requirements. We can even arrange a for a English speaking Chinese agent to assist in factory audits.
06 I want to discuss details further but don't speak Chinese.
Most of our management staff at the factory speak or understand English, so your more than welcome to call the factory directly. We recommend talking to one of our Product Development Managers in the United Kingdom or the Netherlands first, who can also give you advice on Patents, Design Protection, Branding, packaging, costs, sales etc.
07 How long does it take to create tooling?
This depends on the type and complexity of tooling being made. Hardened injection molding tooling usually takes the longest to make. First shot samples (or T1) can usually be created in around 6 to 8 weeks. Various samples and modification will be required before the tooling is complete. For the purpose of reference, 20 weeks tooling time isn't uncommon.
08 Who is the owner of the molds/tooling at the end of production?
The molds designed and manufactured by Roma are owned by the customer. After production, molds are securely stored at Roma's factory until required. Molds can be retrieved from the factory at any time by the customer.
